Bespoke trainingBetter Business Case training – direct from skilled and experienced practitioners

Since establishing Value People we have frequently been asked if we can recommend an accredited Better Business Case™ training provider particularly as in the last five years Stefan as an Approved Better Business Case Trainer, has personally trained over 500 people in the methodology.

To meet this demand we are pleased to announce that Value People has entered into a strategic alliance with Inspiring Projects, an APMG-approved Accredited Training Organisation (ATO).  Inspiring Projects was the first ATO in the world to be approved to deliver Better Business Cases training www.inspiringprojects.com.au.

As a reseller of Inspiring Projects accredited training materials, Value People can now offer clients a full range of bespoke Better Business Cases training solutions and certification services.

Training Options Our extensive knowledge of developing, reviewing and writing ‘Better Business Cases’ uniquely positions us to provide high quality, targeted training – not just from trainers, but skilled and experienced practitioners, supported by Inspiring Projects’ accredited training and best practice Classroom and eLearning teaching materials.

Training Options

We understand the need to cater for all learning styles as well as individual circumstances and personal preferences, so we offer a range of training solutions to meet most needs.

Classroom Learning

Traditional classroom based training can be provided, facilitated by an experienced Value People trainer, with extensive and current practical knowledge of applying the ‘Five Case Model’ methodology.

Classroom Learning Value People specialise in the delivery of in-house courses, delivering training at clients’ premises, or an off-site venue. As training is solely for participants from the organisation, this allows us to address bespoke issues and where practical, customise some of the course material to the client’s specific business needs.

In the classroom we facilitate discussion, by drawing on your own workplace experiences and match these to our real world business case experience.

The ideal group size for Classroom Training is between 6-12 participants. The benefits of classroom training include:

  • The course taught by accomplished subject matter experts — practitioners with current experience in their field
  • The classroom environment engages all of the ways that we learn: seeing, reading, listening, talking and doing. This helps with both understanding and retention of the course material
  • The ability to ask questions that are of interest or importance to you, and get an immediate considered authoritative response
  • It is a personal, face-to-face type of training
  • The ability to ask questions and interact with other learners is regarded as a key component for learning
  • In class, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate, problem-solve and network with your colleagues while learning valuable, results-producing skills that you can apply at work or toward professional certification
  • Assessment of your learning can be conducted throughout each day using different strategies, including group work and written quizzes to give you confidence of your understanding before you move on to the next topic

eLearning eLearning 

eLearning (computer-based training or online learning), is becoming very popular and is particularly cost effective for smaller groups and individuals.

Working with Inspiring Projects, Value People offers accredited eLearning training ideally suited for individuals who can't take too much time off work and for Directors of Finance and HR Managers it is a cost effective way of maximising a limited training budget.

The benefits of eLearning include:

  • It is accessible from any location with access to the Internet
  • It enables users to set their own pace and repeat sessions as many times as required
  • It increases control and visibility of progress and achievement
  • It provides the ability to re-do modules where the learner hasn't absorbed the material well

Blended Learning Blended Learning

It is possible to combine the benefits of Classroom and eLearning in a blended approach.
Here most of the training takes place online, but with the possibility of access to Value People to ask questions. Once the core concepts have been absorbed through eLearning, learners come together in a classroom to review all course content covered to date. By the end of the course Value People will ensure that learners are able to integrate the concepts and apply them to realistic complex situations.

The benefits of blended learning include:

  • Trainer availability during the integration phase of the training, to ensure that participants understand how to integrate and apply the concepts they have learned
  • The opportunity to customise the training in the classroom environment
  • Takes advantage of technological improvements to lower the overall cost of knowledge acquisition and increase flexibility during the knowledge acquisition part of the training;

All learners are welcome but our courses are probably most relevant for those developing and producing spending proposals for assessment and approval including:

  • Accounting Officers
  • Senior Responsible Owners (SROs)
  • Programme Directors
  • Project Managers
  • Directors of Finance and Procurement
  • Members of Management and Approvals Boards

Courses Offered

Foundation Level

The Foundation course provides learners with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the guidance to be able to work effectively with, or as a member of, a team to develop a business case using the ‘Five Case Model’.

Via Inspiring Projects we are able to provide learners with access to the Foundation Level certification examinations either online or in a formal classroom setting.

The foundation examination format is as follows:

  • Multiple choice
  • 50 questions
  • 25 marks or more required to pass (out of 50 available) – 50%
  • 40 minutes duration
  • Closed book

Practitioner Level

The Practitioner qualification confirms that learners have acquired sufficient understanding of the theory and application of the ‘Five Case Model’ to allow them to effectively develop and produce a business case.  A successful practitioner candidate should be able to start applying the Five Cases Model to a real life project.

Via Inspiring Projects, we are able to provide learners with access to the Practitioner Level certification examinations in a formal classroom setting.

The practitioner examination format is as follows:

  • Objective testing against a scenario
  • 4 questions per paper, with 20 marks available per question
  • 40 marks or more required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
  • 2.5 hours duration
  • Open book exam

Additional and follow on options

We understand that sometimes a second opinion or some targeted support can be really helpful so in addition to accredited training, Value People offer follow on mentoring and support packages to organisations that have completed our training courses.
